My name is Michael Ingerson and I am a “Chartologist”. Yes, I know Chartologist is not a real word but it is what I do. I look at charts of stocks and I am very good at it.

The stock does not need to move a lot maybe only 5 or 10 percent. This does not sound like a lot but when I buy options on the stock the options will tend to move a lot more. I have bought options that double or triple in a day or two.

Options are great because you can start small with just a couple hundred dollars in a trade. With options it is not uncommon to double or triple your money in a very short period of time.

Options are also so simple. If I think a stock will go up I just buy the calls and if I think the stock is going to go down I just buy puts. I do not mess around with anything fancy like straddles or spreads. I just keep it very simple.

Of course the key to my signature system is being able to look at a chart and determine which way a stock will move. This sounds pretty simple and it is. Actually a monkey can get it right about 50 percent of the time.

However, a monkey will not be able to tell you when the stock is ready to make its move.  You see if the stock does not move quickly then your option will expire worthless because of “Time Decay”.

When you trade options there are two things you must get right and those two things are the direction of the move and the timing of the move. If you don’t get both right you will not be making money.

A lot of people play options using the earnings release as the catalyst. The problem is that the catalyst is known to happen on an exact date and this inflates the options price right before the earnings announcement.

If you don’t get the direction correct your option will get smashed. I have made a lot of money playing the earnings announcement game but there is a better way.
